EHS Specialist

Talent STEM is supporting a major global manufacturing business with the recruitment of an EHS Specialist for its site in Delaware, Ohio.

This is a hands-on site-based position supporting the delivery of Environmental, Health and Safety programmes across a manufacturing environment. Working closely with the EHS Manager, production, engineering and technical teams, you will help ensure regulatory compliance, reduce operational risk and support the continued development of a strong safety culture.

The role offers broad exposure across workplace safety, environmental compliance, incident investigation, risk assessment, emergency response, waste management and sustainability initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the site EHS programme.

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations alongside internal company standards.

  • Provide leadership and support for EHS training across the site.

  • Carry out and support Job Safety Analysis, site risk assessments and risk mitigation activities.

  • Support Management of Change processes and assess the EHS impact of capital projects.

  • Coach and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Support compliance audits, corrective action tracking and audit readiness.

  • Lead or support emergency response activities.

  • Support site safety committees, including LOTO and ergonomics initiatives.

  • Assist with environmental permits, regulatory reporting and OSHA recordkeeping.

  • Support hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste programmes.

  • Help develop and monitor EHS and sustainability performance indicators covering areas such as injuries, spills, energy, water and waste.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering or a related scientific discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years’ EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience within chemical, coatings, automotive, aerospace or another regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

  • Good working knowledge of relevant safety and environmental regulations.

  • Understanding of standards and requirements including OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI and NFPA.

  • Experience with risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and corrective action management.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels.

  • Experience supporting construction-related EHS activities would be beneficial.

Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 plus comprehensive benefits.
